I was thrilled when Nancy and George Corbett owners of Lamb Manor let me know their home WON the Wall Street Journal HOUSE OF THE YEAR 2015!. I fell in love with and did a post about Lamb Manor early last year when it was on the market for 3 million plus. In March 2014 Wall Street Journal featured Lamb Manor as House of the Day and it went on to win House of the Week. It never lost momentum. WSJ’s 52 homes had over 600,000 votes by their readers crowning Lamb Manor House of the Year 2015! Congratulations to Nancy and George Corbett!
The Corbett’s are elated they won and I could not be happier for them.
The house is a Queen Anne style mansion the Corbett’s bought for $1 saving it from being demolished back in 2006.
Then they moved the home by floating it on a barge from Palmetto to a beautiful private retreat island lot on Little Manatee River in Ruskin Florida.
Here she is in 2006 before being restored floating across the Tampa Bay making headlines with the local Florida Fox News station. The cost to ferry was around $250,000.… Continue Reading
Feast your eyes on The Pole House! It looks like it is suspended high in the air floating at the edge of the ocean. It is very famous and the most photographed house. The Pole House is on Great Ocean Road in Fairhaven, Australia.
As soon as I saw The Pole House it reminded me of the houses in the sci-fi movie Oblivion that stars Tom Cruise. I used to be obsessed with wanting to travel to Australia and see the outback, but I had not thought about the ocean.
