A little place of heaven on earth is Mermaid Cottages on Tybee Island in Georgia. A perfect home away from home is all of their cottages, but today I am featuring Mermaid Manor Cottage that is a fully renovated historic cottage decorated mermaid beach style with local art and vintage treasures. The cottage has charm and decorating style in every nook and cranny. To begin with, the picket fence in the yard was custom-made and has a mermaid sign hanging on it hand-carved by a local artist.
Mermaid Manor circa 1935 is a vacation rental cottage that has room for sleeping 8, three bedrooms, and two bathrooms. It is in the historic Back River District and is in easy walking distance to the Kayak Launch area, Fisherman’s Walk Fishing Pier, the beach, restaurants. and shopping. The kitchen is fully stocked with food basics and any appliance you may need if you want to eat-in after a long fun-filled day on Tybee Island.
The custom-made fence. Mermaid Manor has been featured by three national magazines on Cottage Style. The cottage is decorated with vintage and flea market finds and Flea Market Style Magazine did a story about it.
Mermaid Manor is a fully renovated historic cottage circa 1935, as are many of the cottages on Tybee Island.
The hand-carved Mermaid sign. When I go to Tybee Island I am going to have to buy a mermaid to bring back because if there is one thing about me, it is that I love mermaids.
The front porch of the cottage is now enclosed and is fully heated and air-conditioned. The trunk is from the 1940s, bamboo blinds and linen curtains.
Two vintage blue shutters on each side the front door welcome you.
The great room is the living area, dining room, and kitchen.
The charming mantle and bookcases are filled with sea shells and other things from the sea.
Living room/dining room views. The chandelier came from an old historic house in Savannah, and the slip covers are custom-made.
The counter seen here and below was made from the original siding from the cottage.
Southern Living featured Mermaid Manor and liked the slip-covered bar stools.
All appliances and kitchen tools are provided.
Bedroom has old shutters for headboard, trunk and old suitcases serve as side table.
This is my favorite. Upstairs is a large open area with a double bed, queen bed and sitting area perfect for the kids to spread out and play.
Cute upstairs bathroom ends the Mermaid Manor Cottage tour. This wonderful vacation rental cottage is at 1414 7th Avenue Tybee Island, Georgia and is only one of Mermaid Cottages many idyllic places to stay. I need a vacation, and this home tour made me feel like I just had a getaway.

Such wonderful ceiling angles! I’ll curl up with all the pillows on the window seat and enjoy the water views.

Hi Debra, your dolls would look good lined up on the window seat. My Facebook reveals a woman who stayed here last week and she “loved it.”
